Description
Antique 9ct gold elephant brooch. 9ct Gold brooch in the form of an elephant. The body encrusted with 10 claw set rubies, rub over set green paste for it's eye & finished with a bezel set aquamarine at the end of it's trunk. Round hinge pin with lever catch to verso. Hallmarked & maker's mark to verso of the trunk. An excellent piece to add to a collection. Ultrasonically cleaned. Date letter & assay office marks are rubbed, so hard to read.
This item has been dated by the pin. Handmade lever safety catches are seen on pieces from the early 1900's. It would suggest to me that this item is probably Edwardian.
