Description

Antique English Victorian 9ct gold chatelaine propelling pencil. Hexagonal shaped fluted body with beautiful bright cut hand chased foliate decoration around the outside. At the bottom end is a circular stepped band & at the top is a tapering removable screw top with foliate decoration & an inset fire opal gemstone cap seal. Inside the top is a small compartment for storing spare leads. At the top is a sliding suspension loop & ring that once would have attached to a ladies chatelaine. In the centre is a sliding band which extends & retracts the internal pencil mechanism. The pencil has a twist action tip which extends & retracts the pencil lead mechanism. Both pencil mechanisms are in excellent working order. The pencil comes complete with a lead in the tip & one spare lead in the top. The pencil is marked on the side of the body with "9ct" for 9ct gold. Lovely collectors item.
