Description
Antique Victorian 18ct gold backed silver peridot diamond & seed pearl pendant, c1880. A stunning piece of Victorian jewellery. The hanging loop set with a round cut bezel set peridot, then to the top of the pendant three pear cut bezel set peridots with a central bezel set diamond in a trefoil design. Claw set diamonds, set in a swaged design across the pendant. The outer loop being round cut bezel set peridots. To the center a pear cut bezel set peridot surrounded by seed pearls hangs by it's own loop. To the bottom of the pendant a round cut diamond & oval cut peridot, both being bezel set, also hangs by it's own loop. Silver on top backed with 18ct gold, this technique was often used with jewellery with diamonds set because Jewellers of that era thought that it captured the beauty of the stones. Also silver jewellery would sometimes leave black marks on skin/clothing, so the backs of the jewellery were coated in gold. With gift box.
