Antique Victorian novelty propelling pencil modelled in the form of a birds egg, possibly a Guillemot. Cylindrical shaped painted wooden body with a silver plated finial at the top & a suspension loop & ring attached. By turning the top finial the internal propelling pencil tip extends & retracts. The pencil has a twist action tip which extends & retracts the internal pencil lead mechanism. Both mechanisms are in excellent working order. The pencil comes complete with a new lead in the pencil tip (which has been replaced since the photograph above). Lovely collectors item.
