Description
Antique Victorian solid silver Japanese bowl, Watanabe Zo, Yokohama, c1900. Solid silver bowl from the Meiji period (1868-1912), decorated all round with boldly embossed iris flowers emerging from water on a hammered back ground. The bowl having a skirt foot. Stamped to the underside with the character mark "Jungin" meaning pure silver & maker's mark. Watanabe Zo was a Japanese silversmith known for producing exquisite silver items in the Meiji era. Fabulous collectors item.

Condition.
Some tiny holes to the outer silver, but these have not penetrated all the way through as can be seen in the photographs. Apart from that, this item is in excellent condition with light surface marks that are consistent with genuine age, use & polishing.
