Description
A very fine quality antique Scottish William IV solid sterling silver large snuff box. Rectangular shaped box with curved shaped sides & raised on a small pedestal base. Engine turned decoration over the entire box with a repoussé foliate decorated border around the top edge. Hinged lid on the top with thumb lift on the front to open a gilt lined interior. An inscription on the inside of the lid reads "Presented by Edward, Joseph, Clara & Ellen Pollard, Pupils of Mr Charles Sutherland as a token of their respect & esteem Sydney N.S.W May 2nd 1844". Fully hallmarked on both the body & lid. Lovely collectors item.
